FAQ
What is the difference between the full, advanced, and mini sessions?
The main difference between the full and mini sessions is the amount of time we have with campers on the beach. The mini sessions are condensed versions of our full camps without lunch, snacks and a camp contest. We recommend the mini session camps to kids who have had no skimboarding experience at all. Our new advanced session is the same length as a full camp, with the main difference being the mobility of the camp to go where the waves are best and the level of instruction. This camp is only open by invite and to children over 12.
When and where is the camp held?
Check the application or www.alleyoopskimcamp.com Skim Camps page for session dates.

Full Camps

The full camps consist of a five-day weekly session running from 9am-4pm Monday through Thursday. On Friday our camp is a half-day from 9am-12pm followed by lunch at Gary's, next door to the Alley-Oop shop. Parents must provide transportation. Our camps will be held on the south side of Indian River Inlet in the Delaware State Seashore Park. The drop off/pick up zone is at the closed ticket booth on the edge of the parking lot, where Alley-Oop counselors will check in and take campers for the day. Pick up is in the same spot at 4pm.

Mini Camps

This Year we are offering seven mini-sessions in Dewey Beach and three on the South Side of Indian River Inlet State Park. Each session is noted as to where it will be held. All mini-sessions are three hours long running from 8am-11am. Drop off for Dewey sessions is 8am at the Alley-Oop store. Drop off for I.R.I. State Park is 8am at the empty ticket booth on the edge of the parking lot. An Alley-Oop counselor will be waiting to sign all campers in.

Advanced camps

Advanced camps are full sessions that are mobile to go wherever the conditions are best in the alley-oop limo. These camps are only open to invited campers and children over the age of 12. Pick up and drop off are at the alley-oop store (2000 Hwy. One Unit 106 Dewey Beach, DE 19971) at 9am and 4pm.
How old do I have to be to attend the camp and what skills are necessary?
Campers must be at least five years of age for mini sessions, six years of age for full session, and able to swim. All parents/guardians must sign the Parent Statement form confirming the above statement.

What do campers need to bring to the beach with them?

? Rash guard/Lycra shirt
? Sun screen (SPF 15 or higher)
? Board Wax

How much does camp cost and how do I pay?
Full sessions cost $350. Half Sessions cost $200. Advanced sessions cost $400. You can sign up in person at the Alley-oop store. 2000 Hwy. 1 Unit 106 Dewey Beach, DE 19971) using cash, check, or credit card. Or by downloading the sign up sheet from alleyoopskimcamp.com and mailing it to the above address with payment in the form of a check. Full payment and complete registration is needed to confirm a spot in camp. Online registration is now available: www.alleyoopskimcamp.com

Does Alley-oop skim camp give re-funds? What happens if camp is canceled due to dangerous weather or ocean conditions?
Occasionally Alley-oop has to call off or shorten days due to thunderstorms, wind, heat, flys, or dangerous ocean conditions. Decisions to shorten or cancel camp are made to ensure the safety of our campers. If camp has to be cancelled or shortened, Alley-oop will only refund money if the total amount of hours missed exceeds 7 hours, which is the equivalent of one camp day. When more than 7 hours are missed, money will be refunded according to an hourly rate. Money will not be refunded for any other reason. If there is a situation where a camper cannot attend camp, we offer you the option to fill their spot with another camper as long as they fill out proper registration.
What are campers fed during camp?
At Alley oop we take pride in providing our campers with a good meal and end of the day snack. Typically the main course of our meals consist of either pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, salads, or wraps with chips, pretzels, and some type of sweet. Our end of the day snack usually consists of fruit, vegetables, dip, chips, PBJ, pretzels, and cookies. We maintain a good supply of water and often time?s lemonade to keep campers hydrated through the day. Breakfast is not served and we strongly recommend campers eat something before arriving at camp. Campers are allowed to bring their own food if they do not like what we are providing. We try to offer other food options if a child is allergic to, or can?t eat something we have planned. Please inform us on application about any allergies or health issues.
Does Alley-oop provide transportation?
No. Parents/guardians are expected to drop campers off at the empty ticket booth in the parking lot on the south side of Indian River Inlet, Delaware State Seashore Park by 9am. Pick up is in the same place at 4pm for full sessions and 12pm for half sessions.

*Our advanced session offers transportation in our Cadillac Limo to and from the alley-oop store.
Does it cost money to enter the Delaware State Park?
Yes. If parents want to enter the parking lot they must pay the park fees. The drop off/ pick up spot is accessible without having to enter the park to save parents the ticket fee.
